Master’s degree from an accredited program

Nursing (RN/APRN) licensures in good standing (nurse practitioner)

PA-C license in good standing and certified by the NCCAP

Financial Support

Pursuing an NSPM fellowship through HPM University requires dedication and upfront investment in your education. Therefore, HPM provides tuition reimbursement and monetary stipends to assist clinicians in offsetting the time and financial requirements.

Post-Graduation Support

Are there other training programs that train across a multi-specialty blend of provider types?

HPM University is unique in offering a training program that blends multiple specialties. This program provides comprehensive education and hands-on experience for a diverse range of provider types, including CRNAs, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians. This multidisciplinary approach ensures well-rounded expertise in pain management and offers continuous clinical support within our dedicated ecosystem, designed to help our providers thrive.

How is the curriculum structured?

Unlike traditional programs, HPM University integrates multiple components of pain management into its course curriculum. This allows apprentices to gain a thorough understanding of how to evaluate, manage, and treat various pain syndromes. Competency is assessed through micro-assessments, long-form papers, and both virtual and onsite competency evaluations.

How much travel is required?

No travel is required during the didactic phase of the program. However, the clinical residency phase requires travel to HPM-contracted training facilities located across five states. Your faculty advisor will develop a travel plan to ensure efficient training while maintaining balance

I’m a CRNA. Will the curriculum prepare me for the NBCRNA NSPM Examination?

Yes! Our program meets all eligibility requirements needed to sit for the NBCRNA NSPM Exam. Additionally, HPM provides comprehensive exam preparation materials and support to ensure you pass the exam on your first attempt. You will receive both fundamental and advanced education from our certified trainers, who are a blend of advanced practice providers and physicians. The hands-on experience and multidisciplinary approach ensure you are well-prepared to function independently in your own clinic post-graduation.

I’m a nurse practitioner/physician assistant. Is the HPM program for me?

Yes! HPM has a specific curriculum and training program for advanced practice healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians. You will function independently in your own clinic post-graduation. You will receive both fundamental and advanced education from our certified trainers, who are a blend of advanced practice providers and physicians. It would be difficult to find a more collegial practice environment to learn and practice than HPM.

I’m a physician who desires training. Is this program for me?

Yes! HPM University offers a comprehensive training program specifically designed for physicians. What’s the goal of the fellowship?

HPM University’s goal is to provide healthcare professionals with advanced education in the NSPM specialty, equipping them to practice in non-opioid pain clinics [AB1] and interventional pain management settings in rural America.

What’s the process for financial responsibility and stipend payments?

HPM provides tuition reimbursement along with a monthly stipend during the program. Upon graduation, clinicians are guaranteed job placement in an HPM-contracted facility. We require a commitment to align with our mission, vision, and values to ensure our patients’ highest quality of care after you graduate

Who are the ideal candidates for the program?

Ideal candidates for our program are those who desire to practice in HPM-contracted rural facilities across the Mountain West, Midwest, and Western Regions. Clinicians must be interested in independent practice and collaborating with fellow clinicians to provide comprehensive care for our rural patients.
